Number of cases started to rapidly increase after starting normalization process.
Currently there are 21 pandemic hospitals in Azerbaijan, 9 of them are located in Baku and all of them are public facilities. According to the information we are receiving from our local network, as number of cases started to increase rapidly nowadays there is shortage of vacant beds in Baku, so some of the patient are transferred to the surrounding provinces, such as Astara and Gobustan. Also there is shortage of medical professionals, however medication supply is adequate for now
We are still able to arrange visits and place GOP to non-pandemic hospitals in our network in Baku and Ganja region for non-COVID cases.
What Restrictions Are Currently Applied?
All of Azerbaijan’s borders are currently closed to passenger traffic. Flights into and out of Azerbaijan will not be available until July 1, 2020 according to the last decision of Cabinet of Ministers.
The Government of Azerbaijan has extended rules restricting international passenger traffic and movement in the regions of Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Lankaran, Absheron, and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through August 1, 2020.
All arrivals to Azerbaijan are currently being placed in a mandatory 14-day quarantine in government-provided facilities, regardless of travel origin.
Some measures including necessity to obtain permission by sending a text message in order to leave home for essential trips, were lifted as of 18.05.2020. However from June 22 to July 5, 2020, the Government of Azerbaijan has reintroduced an SMS regime requiring individuals in Baku, Ganja, Sumgayit, Lankaran, Yevlakh, Masalli, Lankaran, Jalilabad, and Absheron to obtain permission by SMS to leave home.
Also shopping malls, schools and most of workplaces are closed until July 5, 2020
Wearing masks in public areas are mandatory. Public gatherings for more than 10 people are prohibited.
Azerbaijan Grand Prix and UEFA Euro 2020, where Azerbaijan was one of host countries were postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
